3rd Sunday In Ordinary Time

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites the disciples to follow Him. He says that He will make them “fishers of men”. He has a plan for their lives. They will share in the ministry of Jesus Himself. The new disciples know they can never look back. They will be forever changed by their relationship with Jesus.

Just as Jesus invited the disciples to follow him, he also invites us. We are called to reflect the love and mercy of Jesus Himself. Jesus calls each of us to a life of holiness and service. The call may seem to be quite a challenge, because we often fall short in living the example of Jesus. However, despite our human frailty, Jesus calls us to walk by His side! Jesus isn’t looking for perfection, He’s looking for progress.
