7th Sunday of Easter

7th Sunday of Easter- Ascension of the Lord

“So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the Father. They went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, “(Mark 16: 19-20).

The Ascension of the Lord marks the end of Jesus’ earthy work, and the beginning of the work of the disciples.  While Jesus was no longer with them in a physical sense, they stood firm in the conviction that Jesus worked with them. It was the Lord who inspired them and strengthened their faith. They knew that it was the Lord who was accomplishing the good works they were doing. The Church continues the ministry of Jesus. Jesus commissions us the same way he commissioned the disciples. Like the first disciples we know that it is by the power of the Lord who accomplishes the good works we do.
