Anointing of the Sick

The anointing of the sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. It is most likely one of the last sacraments one will receive. A sacrament is an outward sign established by Jesus Christ to confer inward grace. In more basic terms, it is a rite that is performed to convey God’s grace to the recipient, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Anointing is offered at scheduled Masses throughout the year.(see the website and bulletins for information)

When a loved one is seriously ill…

Please call St. Anthony’s main office 563-588-0571 and request that the priest visit to give the Sacrament of Anointing of the the Sick. The main office can also make arrangements for an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist to visit your loved one, pray with them, and give them Holy Communion.
