Shoe Giving Program

Shoe Giving Program

Last year's "Year of Mercy" project was a great success. In 2016, St. Anthony partnered with St. Mark’s Community Center to provide sneakers to students who attended St. Mark’s summer program. St. Mark's has reached out to us again this year to ask for our support. There are giving trees set up in our gathering space this weekend and next weekend, which hold tags for 122 students who could use a new pair of sneakers for the upcoming school year. You may adopt students by taking shoe tags from the giving trees on the weekends of July 8-9 and July 15-16. Then, please bring your purchased, unwrapped shoes back to the giving tree area on the weekends of July 22-23 and July 29-30. We request that the shoes be of durable quality, to ensure they will last for a full school year. (Past shoe donation programs have evidenced that inexpensive shoes break down soon after the school year begins.) Please attach your shoe tag to the outside of the box, and put your gift receipt inside the box, so that shoes may be exchanged in the event a different size is needed.
