Giving Tree, St Anthony 2020
Dear St Anthony Parishioner,
For many years the Social Justice Committee has organized the annual Giving Tree Project which served those most in need at Christmas time. Due to COVID, many people in our Dubuque community find themselves in great need because of job loss and other financial hardships. Therefore, the SJ committee has decided to once again organize this parish effort. However, it has been decided that there will be changes this year. There will be no tags on the tree to avoid gathering in close proximity to each other while choosing a tag. Also, this will prevent anyone from having to go from store to store to shop for the gift listed on the tag.
This year we are asking for monetary donations only for our Giving Tree in an effort to serve those most in need. The SJ committee will purchase gift cards with the money that is donated. The managers of the organizations we are partnering with highly support this idea and have shared with us the needs we could fulfill. Together, we feel this is the safest and best way to support others and to continue the Giving Tree Project this year.
You are invited to donate cash or check of any amount to this project. Please put your donation in an envelope and mark it “St. Anthony Giving Tree.” You may choose to do one of the following with your donation:
- place it in the collection basket at church
- drop it off at the St. Anthony Parish Office
- mail your donation to 1870 St. Ambrose Street, Dubuque, IA 52001.
If you are writing a check make it payable to St. Anthony Giving Tree.
All donations must be received by December 10th.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me and I will do my best to answer your questions.
Thanks for your continued support of this worthwhile project.
Chair of Social Justice Committee
