13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today, we see two events in which people turn their suffering to a moment of faith when they experience the mercy of Jesus. In the case of Jairus, his daughter became ill and he looked to Jesus for help. He puts his faith in Jesus. His trust and faith led to the healing of his daughter. In the second situation, a poor woman was suffering from a disease for many years. She though that Jesus might be able to help her. She touched Jesus’ garment and was healed. Jesus tells her that her faith has healed her.

How do we deal with life’s sufferings and problems? As much as we like to avoid life troubles, they are a part of life. Jesus promises his love and mercy. What more could we ask for?
