23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Amen I say to you, if two of you agree about anything for which they are to pray it shall be granted them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered in my name there I am in their midst.” (Matt 18:20-21) Jesus is emphasizing the benefit and power of prayer.

Just as food and water give life to the body, so also prayer gives life to our relationship with God. When we pray with sincerity and devotion we see God’s power at work. Prayer gives us the ability to see life’s realities in proper perspective. Prayer also fills our hearts with love for God and neighbor. Prayer makes it possible to do things which we can’t do on our own. Prayer strengthens our faith that God is truly present in our lives.
