June 21, 2015 Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The gospel reading today shows us how to trust in the love and power of God.  As the disciples are crossing the lake, a storm comes up and they become distressed. The boat and everyone in the boat are in danger. The disciples awaken Jesus and appear to be asking Jesus why he seems to be unconcerned about the situation. Jesus then calms the storm and brings peace. There is a powerful lesson to be learned. When we feel like we’re being overwhelmed by life’s troubles, we can sometimes get the notion that God isn’t paying much attention. The gospel affirms God’s presence, and God’s love for us. We must have faith that God is in control. We pray that God may fill us with the faith we need to face the storms of life.
