Chapter six of the Gospel of John is sometimes referred to as the “bread of life” discourse. Jesus reveals himself as the living bread. He gives himself for the life of his people. Jesus’ words show how God continues to provide for his people.

     The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ which we celebrate today reminds us of the holy gift of the Eucharist which the Lord has given to his church. The Eucharist  is at the center of our Catholic faith. In the Eucharist the Lord gives himself to us so that we may share in divine life. We honor the gift of the Eucharist by receiving the Lord with humble gratitude.
