The Gospel today gives a number of sayings that place emphasis on the “little ones”. The ‘”little ones” isn’t a reference to children. It is a reference to those who are new to the faith, or the needy or the weak, or those who are just trying to make it in life. Jesus shows great concern for all these people. Jesus calls upon his followers to have an inclusive attitude toward the “little ones”. The church community must have the same attitude as Jesus in regard to reaching out and showing concern for those in most need of God’s mercy and care.
