Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Scripture Reflection

Today in the Gospel we have the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. A contrast  is set up between the rich and the poor. The rich man and the poor man live in entirely different circumstances. The rich man had everything he needed and the poor man had nothing. The roles are reversed after the rich man and Lazarus die. The message of the parable is fairly simple. As disciples of Jesus we need to be concerned about more than just ourselves. We are called to share and help others. We are asked to live in the light of Christ. It’s a matter of  being “other” centered and showing gratitude for the Lord’s blessings.
